About Tara

Tara is an extensive campsite owned by Girl Guides NSW & ACT and is available for use by Guide groups and members of the wider community. It is one of many premier Guiding properties and is often the site of the bi-annual Jamboree.

Tara offers affordable accommodation suitable for large and small groups. There is a choice of camping areas or self-contained cottages with fully equipped kitchens for self-catering. The property boasts small conferencing facilities, games room, swimming pool and a quiet lake.

Tara sits on 56 hectares of natural bushland in a rural setting close to the Blue Mountains. It has large cleared areas and provides the perfect site for fun and adventure with campfires, BBQs, nature trails, water activities and a wide range of outdoor activities. Bents Basin Reserve adjoins the property providing scenic bush walks and recreational facilities.

Locally there is the historic Nepean District and Mulgoa Gorge to explore. The Penrith region offers shopping at Penrith Plaza, the Olympic Rowing/White-water Rafting venues, current movies at the Hoyts and local horse and trail riding.

Close by there is the Historic towns of Richmond, Windsor and the Hawkesbury District. Just over an hour away is Sydney, the Blue Mountains and South Coast beaches to explore.
