NSW Olave Program Super Service weekend

On the weekend of 10-12 August 2007, ten OP members embarked on an exciting, fun filled, exhausting weekend of service. Pictures are below; click on them to enlarge.

GIANT GUIDE
SLEEPOVER AT
TARONGA ZOO

On Friday night, most OPs attended this event as Leaders with their Guide Units, but as we do every year, we spent about an hour together at the Zoo catching up on the latest OP goss. This year over 30 OPs gathered to discuss upcoming OP events, international service opportunities such as G.O.L.D. and all things OP mixed with a few giggles!

FIELD OF WOMEN LIVE
@ the AFL

On Saturday night, 10 OPs stood on the field at Telstra Stadium in pink ponchos along with 13 100 other women and men to raise money and awareness for the Breast Cancer Network Australia. To be surrounded by breast cancer survivors, families breast cancer has touched, and supporters was an inspiring and emotional experience. We then watched Sydney beat St Kilda in the AFL from the nosebleed stands.  It was absurd to be able to reach out and almost touch the Telstra Stadium roof - enjoyable though.  Consider taking your Guide Unit next year.  The OPs are definitely going again, although a few of us discovered we really weren’t AFL fans and have planned dinner instead of staying for the game next time!

CITY2SURF

On Sunday, 8am saw 8 OPs (and an OP Mum) filling hundreds of cups of water in the sunshine at Drink Station #6 at Bondi for the annual City2Surf. This was such a great day: hard work, but lots of fun!  And a prime position to watch the race from! It was fantastic to be thanked and recognised as volunteers by by participants during the race.  And we got to eat as many muffins as we could - the orange and poppy seed were delicious!
