NSW  & ACT TREFOIL GUILDS

Welcome to our very own website!  On this site we plan to include news of what Guilds are doing, State TG Adviser’s newsletter (for those who don’t get to meetings to see a copy), news of coming events, and other bits and pieces of interest to Trefoil Guild members.  Forms of various kinds will be sent via our website, so that you can print as many copies as you need.

We invite your contributions, and hope you will send news and photos to be included.  Please send your contributions to Joan Burch c/- PO Box 2670, Bowral 2576, or email ljb@hinet.net.au.

July 08

Dear members,

On behalf of all the Trefoil members I would like to convey a big welcome to the new State Executive Officer, (SEO), Linda Latham, who commenced her position on 1 June, 2008

Also a big welcome back to Joan Burch who had a spell in hospital, but has returned home and on the road to a speedy recovery.

State Picnic

Rain, hail or shine at Tara, Saturday 12 July. Bring a picnic lunch, hat, sunscreen and a chair.

It is now urgent that we know if you are to be collected at Penrith Station about 9.30 am. We need to know numbers for catering for the morning tea please. This is now urgent.

18th National Gathering

I have been asked by a few members regarding the scarf to be worn at the National Gathering in WA. It is a National Gathering and the scarf is to be of your choice, as both are acceptable. Only on two occasions of the Opening and the Gala Dinner it is requested that dress be worn. The rest of the time the State shirts are to be worn.

The State colours are:

N.S.W.                                   Blue

Queensland                           Maroon

South Australia                     Yellow

Tasmania                              Jade

Victoria                                 Pink

Western Australia                Red

Region Boundaries

I have checked with Guide House and the spreadsheets, which I have received giving the following information:  (I hope I have done this correctly, if I have the wrong Guild in the wrong place please advise me.)

I stress the point Trefoil Guilds are within the Region of NSW and ACT.

In the past we have had  Liaison Officers, i.e. one person to liaise with the Region Leader. I am sure it would be easier for the new Region Leader to liaise with one person only.  Perhaps names can be put forward to me and you can be ready when needed.

Trefoil Guilds are happy to help Guiding where necessary, but first lets allow the new Region Leaders time to settle into their new roles.

Mexican Fiesta

Forms were included in the May Newsletter. Trefoil Guild members are invited to attend Saturday 2nd August, 2008 at 11.00 am – 3.00 pm at Glengarry House at a cost $20.00 per person. Forms for those attending must be sent to Guide House before July 19, 2008 with payment.

General News

Congratulations to Woonona T G who celebrated their 30th Birthday.  The Leaders organised the celebration and invited everyone on Sunday 15th   June, to the Guide Hall. Although the weather was quite cold and windy it did not stop a good attendance for the afternoon tea,  with  cake, with trefoil decorated on top.  It was an excellent opportunity to meet the Woonona members and the new leaders headed by Wendy Momsen.  Bravo!

Another celebration was a member of Bareena T G, Marjorie Wilson who celebrated her 90th birthday luncheon at the Grandview Bowling Club. The guild arranged the luncheon and Marjorie had a wonderful and happy day with all in attendance.

A tenth birthday cake was the highlight at the Alpine T G ‘s luncheon at Davistown, where everyone was in strong voice and had a great trip by train and ferry to the venue.  A happy day was spent with members.

Bowral T G’s Annual Luncheon was a happy day too, held in the Guide Hall with a hearty menu. The Guest Speaker, Natalie Traynor, spoke on Audiology this was very interesting.

When Sending Mail

Recently I have been receiving mail from the Mail Redistribution Centre from Australia Post.  The reason:

Mail is being sent to members’ incorrect addresses with NO return address on the back of the envelope. The mail has been opened by Australia Post and if it is a Newsletter with my contact details it is then returned to me and I look up the correct address and forward it on with maybe a phone call as well. Please add YOUR sender’s details on the back of the mail. Many thanks.

The World Conference

August 21- 26th Vienna/Austria. Yvonne James is representing the Trefoil Guild at the World Conference. We wish her a safe journey and a wonderful experience.  Yvonne will be attending the National Gathering in WA, where the change over to the new ATGA will take place.  Where does this lady get all that energy?

Memories of Guiding

Have the stories been recorded yet? We need the history, memories and photos.  Please do not leave this to the last minute. Let us have your stories now.  Be included in the Book of Memories.  I am sure some of our older members have a tale to tell.  Please advise me if you are contributing to the book.

Advisers’ Meeting

Since Yvonne is attending the World Conference,  to prepare for the Adviser’s meeting prior to the Gathering – I still need to know if you have any topics for discussion.  This matter is now urgent as agendas have to be prepared.  I await your replies.
